Maxim's is a restaurant in Paris, France, located at No. 3 rue Royale in the 8th arrondissement. It is known for its Art Nouveau interior decor. Maxim's was regarded as the most famous restaurant in the world.

Maxim's was founded as a bistro in 1893 by Maxime Gaillard, formerly a waiter. It became one of the most popular and fashionable restaurants in Paris under its next owner, Eugene Cornuché. He gave the dining room its Art Nouveau decor, installed a piano, and made sure that it was always filled with beautiful women. Cornuché was accustomed to say: "An empty room... Never! I always have a beauty sitting by the window, in view from the sidewalk." More on Maxim's

Jean-Louis Forain (23 October 1852 – 11 July 1931) was a French Impressionist painter, lithographer, watercolorist and etcher. He began his career working as a caricaturist for several Paris journals including Le Monde Parisien and Le rire satirique. He  enrolled at the École des Beaux Arts, studying under Jean-Léon Gérôme and Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux. Forain was the youngest artist to frequent and participate in the feverish debates led by Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas at the Café de la Nouvelle Athènes in Montmartre.

Forain joined the Impressionist circle in time to take part in the fourth independent exhibition in 1879; he participated in three of the four landmark shows that followed between 1879 and 1884. His work focused on Parisian popular entertainments and themes of modernity—the racetrack, the ballet, the comic opera, and bustling cafés.

Aside from being influenced by Edgar Degas, Forain was greatly influenced by Honoré Daumier. In 1892 he published the first volume of La Comédie Parisienne, a collection of Forain's illustrations and commentary on the major stories political stories that disrupted France’s Third Republic—such as the anarchic crisis and the Dreyfus affair. In 1891 Forain married the painter Jeanne Bosc with whom he had a son, Jean-Loup, born in 1895.

During the first World War, Forain's illustrations honored the patriotism of his contemporaries. In 1931, shortly before his death, he was made a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in London. He was one of France's best known and revered artists during his time and may best be remembered for his numerous drawings chronicling and commenting on Parisian city life at the end of the 19th century. Followers and admirers of Forain's work include Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. More on Jean-Louis Forain

Said Elatab
Arab Woman
Oil on Canvas.
18 W x 24 H x 1 in
Private collection

Said Elatab, Arab American painter & photographer who considers himself the epileptic painter, always risking his life to work the best shots.  Said has painted while experiencing vision loss and head-banging pain from his epilepsy.

Elatab, in art history aspires to be like the great Princes in the world of Painting. One
would be Vincent Van Gogh

Said’s strength is in his drawings and fixation of creating an active drawing of the painful
women in his past life. Like Van Gogh who lost a ear, Elatab love for art is has the
same value as his life. This is a part of his unique style. Some pieces of his art have
been found to be culturally offensive because of the nudity. He runs the gambit in
history from a famous photographer to mad genius painter.

Elatab has made his own brilliance and vibrancy achievements using his epilepsy and
mad character. He gives his canvases a gentle radiance for ladies, and then he burns
the mad creation as part of his pain and desire to display his dedication and love for his
drawings. Said’s art sometimes speaks with burning oils and musk to candle. Then art
becomes a sacrifice through pain. ”I always ask myself, is it reviving the feelings , or a
sense of anger smoldering?!!” said Said.

His expression of middle eastern experiences are found to be relatable by the many
customers who follow his art exhibits and continuously make known their love for his
work; be it photographer or paintings. More on Said Elatab

Meftah Raouf
AMOUR- حب - LOVE
Acrylic on Canvas
20 W x 40 H x 3 in
Private collection

Meftah Raouf. His love for calligraphy art and discovering art styles built his wealth and transmit it through his work. His calligraphy is the fruit of this wealth that raises questions. His calligraphy is unique and combined to other artistic techniques; they touch the heart and catch the eye of the public. Thanks to a perfect harmony between the artistic techniques, oriental and occidental ones: they create universal art where everybody can nd himself and discussing with his creations.

The absence of texts in many calligraphy doesn’t subtract anything from the story told in them. His calligraphy is a perfect combination of colors and curves, a story which hides another in each detail and in each ornament, and we can discover many episodes in the same painting and sometimes well hidden, you just have to nd the best way to communicate with his work because it invites us to look and admire his paintings by the heart before the eyes.

In other words, calligraphy is from his spirit and soul, so the painting is the fruit of his imagination. To communicate with his work is to allow our soul to project us far away from our imagination. Mastering the two techniques is like comparing our soul to an imaginary world.

This is how he challenges us and how he built his style, unique for him. More on Meftah Raouf
