Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) Dancers or The Ballet Circa 1896 Oil on card H. 28; W. 36 cm
After the Bonnard exhibitions held the world over, the Musee d'Orsay, which manages the artist's output, owed it to itself to devote a retrospective to him that is representative of all his creative periods.
Practicing art in its multifarious forms - painting, drawing, prints, decorative art, sculpture, photography - Bonnard advocated a basically decorative esthetic, fuelled by sharp, humorous observations drawn from his immediate surroundings.
The exhibition, running March 17‑July 19, will showcase the artist’s use of intense color and a decorative aestheticism, featuring works across a multitude of media, including sculpture and photography. - See more at: Louise Blouin Media
