The results emphasise that art collecting is an extensive and essentially varied practice. Aside from establishing the categories mentioned, the survey shows that 10% of collectors have a collection exceeding a million dollars in value, whilst 15% have one inferior to $100,000. Furthermore, 65% of collectors admit to not employing a systematic method, preferring to proceed using instinct as a means of acquiring works of art. Only 5% of collectors base their collections on a curator’s plan.
