Dalí. All of the poetic suggestions and all of the plastic possibilities - the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and Centre Pompidou, Paris, in collaboration with the Fundació Sala-Salvador Dalí, Figueres, and the Salvador Dalí Museum, Saint Petersburg (Florida). Nice - Summer 2013: Matisse in Nice - Between 21st June and 23rd September, eight exhibitions will celebrate the legacy and character of Matisse, as well as the connection between the city of Nice and the artist.
New York - “Woman in an Armchair (Eva)” from 1913, a masterpiece by Pablo Picasso, is on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. From Leonard A. Lauder’s renowned cubist collection, this exquisite painting provides a special opportunity to preview one of the masterworks from a wonderful collection at the Met. This display of Picasso's work will be on view in the first-floor galleries of the Museum’s Lila Acheson Wallace wing for modern and contemporary art for at least the next three months.

Exhibition: Henri Matisse at Balman Gallery, Corbridge. Henri Matisse, who died in 1954, is considered one of the most influential 20th-century artists, and a leader of the movement known as Les Fauves – “the wild beasts” – distinguished by open brush work, bright colours and often abstract design. There’s a mix of his expressive work on show. The original prints – some for sale – include female figures, birds, leaves, seed heads and animals. April 6 to June 8th. Barbara Hodgson, The Journal

) - National Gallery loans Picasso's Self-Portrait to Spain - Czech National Gallery (NG) will reciprocally loan Pablo Picasso's Self-Portrait of 1907, one of the most valuable items in the Czech state collections, to the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, Spain, where an exhibition of the painter's self-portraits will start on May 31.  Works From the Upcoming Marc Chagall Exhibit in Hong Kong
The Art Gallery of Ontario is putting on an exhibit of the avant-garde this fall with pieces from the Guggenheim collection. This fall the avant-garde will take over the Art Gallery of Ontario with an exhibit that includes 70 paintings and sculptures from the likes of Picasso, Pablo, Matisse, Henri and Vasily Kandinsky, all on loan from New York.
Titled The Great Upheaval: Modern Masterpieces from the Guggenheim Collection, the display opens Nov. 30 and runs to March 2, 2014.

Dor Guez: 40 Days - Guez's multimedia work depicts the history and experiences of the Christian Palestinian minority in the Israeli city of Lod, also known by its Palestinian name of Al-Lydd. This is the artist's first solo show in the UK and follows his acclaimed group and solo exhibitions at the Rose Art Museum Boston, KW Institute of Contemporary Art

may have been a cheerleader for privatisation, but did you know that the only (I think) nationalisation she enacted was for Liverpool's museums and art galleries, in 1986? Talking to BLOUINARTINFO’s Julia Halperin in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Christiane Fischer, the CEO of AXA Art Insurance, explained that dealers generally insure artworks “for the selling price minus a certain amount, or the acquisition price plus a certain amount.” But such numbers are only one measure of value.
