Duke Chronicle The West Bank Gets a Biennial: The small town of Qulandiya is best known as the hulking Israeli checkpoint between the West Bank and East Jerusalem. But this week, it is also home to the Palestinian Occupied Territory's largest biennale to date, featuring over 50 Palestinian and international artists from Australia, Italy, and Switzerland, among other countries. Organized by the architectural heritage organization Riwaq and the Al-Ma'mal Foundation for Contemporary Art, the biennale incorporates sculptures made out of bits of the Israeli separation wall by artist Khaled Jarrar. By Daniel Kozin - The St. Petersburg Times Andalucia - Picasso returns to Spain. A Painting by Malaga’s most famous son has made its way from New York to Spain. Pablo Picasso's Langosta y gato (Lobster and Cat) will be on display at Malaga’s Picasso Museum until January 20. The painting, donated to New York’s Guggenheim Museum in 1991, will hang in the room known as the ‘bestiary’, which features various paintings showing the importance of animals in Picasso’s life. The San Francisco Police department are on the lookout for a sartorially chill criminal who made off with a rare 1965 Picasso pencil drawing – valued at around $200,000 – simply by grabbing off of the wall of the Weinstein Gallery and hailing a cab. Security cameras exposed the criminal as none other than Mark Lugo of Hoboken, NJ. Lugo was arrested last year trying to steal the very same pencil drawing from the very same gallery. Gagosian Suit Offers Rare Look at Art Dealing - A lawsuit claiming that the gallery owner Larry Gagosian defrauded a prominent collector is pulling back the curtain, if ever so slightly, on the way high-end deals are sometimes made in the contemporary art world. The collector, Jan Cowles, 93, sued in January, accusing Mr. Gagosian of selling a 1964 Roy Lichtenstein painting, “Girl in Mirror,” from her collection without her consent.
